CROWN STRIKETHE RUBY CITADELLight the seals

A guide to the citadel.

Find your bearings, learn the light-seal puzzle and explore how shape changes a composition.

Finding your way

The home page follows a route through the kingdom: courtyard, vault, light chamber, throne room, workshop and moonlit bridge. You can follow that sequence or use the atlas to go straight to a favourite illustration.

In the home-page atlas, the three room buttons change both the picture and its description. The complete atlas has category filters and a larger image viewer. Closing the viewer returns you to the scene you opened.

The light-seal puzzle

Your goal is to light all nine seals. Each press toggles the chosen tile and its orthogonal neighbours: above, below, left and right. Diagonal neighbours do not change.

  1. Read the starting pattern. A golden seal is lit; a dark seal is unlit. Every button also exposes its state as text for assistive technology.
  2. Try one move. Pressing the centre changes five seals. Pressing an edge changes four, and a corner changes three.
  3. Use the tools. Undo restores the previous board and move count. Reset returns to the current pattern’s starting state. Next pattern cycles through three prepared, solvable arrangements.
  4. Ask for a hint. The helper searches the possible presses and outlines a useful next move. It also tells you the row and column.
Pressing the same seal twice restores every tile affected by that seal.

This makes experimentation reversible. For the first pattern, pressing the top-left, centre and bottom-right seals once each is one solution. Their order does not matter. There is no timer, score ranking or reward.

The shape studio

The three jewel silhouettes are a visual comparison. Round is balanced around a centre, emerald introduces parallel edges, and pear adds a pointed direction. Choose a button to update the shape and the accompanying explanation.

These are stylised screen graphics. They do not describe an actual gemstone, market value, grading report or item for sale.

Comfortable controls

Use Tab to move between links and controls. Enter or Space activates a button. Escape closes an open dialog or the mobile navigation. Visible focus outlines help you follow your position.

The footer’s display settings can reduce transitions and smooth scrolling. The site also respects your device’s reduced-motion preference. Remembering the on-site display choice is optional; puzzle and atlas selections are not stored.

If a control is difficult to use, describe your device, browser and the control on the contact page. Avoid sending passwords or sensitive information.

Your display choices

Optional browser storage can remember the reduced-motion choice on this device. It does not store your puzzle, trail or colour selections. You can explore without enabling it.
